What happens if I don't respond to retrieval requests?

It is critical that merchants respond to retrieval requests in a timely manner, as failure to respond will immediately result in a chargeback and a negative impact on their merchant account. In addition, if a representment (i.e., a dispute response) is insufficient or lacking in information, this will also result in a chargeback.

Under Visa, the time limit to respond to retrieval requests is two seconds or less. The only solution to respond in this time limit is through Real-time Resolution.
